Pack for the route and the style of trip
A weekend in Barcelona is not the same as Bali, a mountain hut, or a week of meetings with cabin luggage only. Use these lists as starters and adapt to weather, airline rules, and your health needs.
Each list mixes “obvious” basics with trip-specific items — e.g. checking plugs and voltage before international travel, our airport day guide, layers for alpine weather, or comfort kit for economy long-haul.
For multi-stop routes, dates, and budget in one workspace, open the Travel Planner — this packing page works standalone and complements it.
How the interactive checklists work
- Check boxes — progress is saved automatically in this browser’s memory (nothing is sent to our server).
- Return later — progress usually persists unless you clear site data.
- Bookmark or add to home screen on your phone for quick access before each trip.
- “Clear list” resets only that section in this browser.
Baseline that almost always applies
We don’t repeat this in every list — assume it’s “underneath” every journey:
- ✓ Passport / ID as required, visa or ETA if needed
- ✓ Payment cards + some cash where cards fail
- ✓ Phone, cables, power bank, travel adapter if needed
- ✓ Prescription meds, travel insurance details
- ✓ Liquids within airline limits; clear bag at security
