How to read baggage rules
Carry-on usually means one overhead-sized bag plus a small under-seat item — but on many low-cost tickets only the under-seat piece is included unless you buy Priority or a bundle.
Dimensions are shown in centimetres (length × width × depth — airlines may list sides in different orders; treat them as maximum edge lengths). Weight may be strictly enforced or not published; follow the carrier’s wording.
Checked baggage depends on fare: often none on the cheapest ticket, then 15–23 kg options, or 32 kg on some long-haul fares. Also read our travel insurance guide (e.g. delayed baggage cover) and roaming & eSIM prep.
Prohibited and restricted items
Beyond size and weight, content rules apply. Carriers maintain different lists of what is banned or limited in cabin vs hold baggage; security regulations (e.g. liquids in carry-ons, spare batteries) and destination laws also matter. Check your airline’s up-to-date guidance before you fly—our overview focuses mainly on dimensions and weight, not a full permitted-items list.
