1–5 May

Rome

The “Eternal City” — layers of history: antiquity, baroque, gelato on every corner. Watch pickpockets at sights and on transit; keep your bag in front on the metro.

Rome

Map: OpenStreetMap + Leaflet. Markers are approximate — confirm exact entrances in Google Maps.

📍 Good to know

Book ahead

Colosseum + Forum — official site or a verified reseller; avoid street “skip the line” touts.

Vatican

Dress modestly; papal Wednesdays change access. Sundays often closed (except last Sunday of the month — check the calendar).

Roma Pass / Omnia

Crunch the numbers for your museum list and transport days.

Roman flavours

🍝
Carbonara / amatriciana / cacio e pepe

Śmietany w carbonarze nie podawaj — to prowokacja.

🍕
Pizza al taglio

Na wagę — Forno Marchetti, Bonci (eksperymentalne smaki).

🍨
Gelato

Szukaj pastelowych kolorów, zamkniętych pojemników — mniej powietrza w masie.

🍽️ Where to eat — Rome

Roscioli

SALUMERIA

Wędliny, sery, wino — rezerwacja na kolację.

Pizza na kawałki — wysokie ciasto, kreatywne toppings.

Giolitti

GELATO

Instytucja lodów niedaleko Panteonu.

6–9 May

Florence

Compact centre — most sights are walkable. Uffizi and Brunelleschi’s dome need bookings weeks ahead in season. The map below (same OSM layer) also has Venice markers — pan or zoom after you travel north.

One map: Florence (centre) + Venice (north) — use +/- on the map.

Zwiedzanie

  • Duomo — dome 463 steps; book the bell tower separately.
  • Galleria dell’Accademia — Michelangelo’s David (queues — buy online).
  • Pitti + Boboli — garden for the afternoon.

Tuscan flavours

Bistecca alla fiorentina (rzadkie!), lampredotto (budynek przy targu), ribollita, pici, wino Chianti.

Where to eat — Florence

Tłoczno, wspólne stoły — zamykają po obiedzie.

Il Latini

BISTECCA

Uczta mięsna — rezerwacja, dzielone stoliki.

10–12 May

Venice

A city on water with visitor rules — check day-trip entry fees and night quiet hours for groups. Vaporetto is a cheaper canal view than a gondola; shared gondolas can cost less than private.

Cicchetti + ombra

Małe przekąski i kieliszek wina — bary w Cannaregio i Dorsoduro.

Risotto al nero di seppia

Czarny ryż z kałamarnicą — klasyk laguny.

Spritz Select / Aperol

Aperitivo przy campo o zachodzie.

Acqua alta

Buty i mapa podwyższeń — zimą częstsze.

Where to eat — Venice

13–16 May

Neapol & Amalfi

Love-it-or-hate-it chaos — home of pizza, sfogliatelle, and loud scooters. To Pompeii take Circumvesuviana from Garibaldi; to the coast SITA bus or boat in season.

Naples, Pompeii, Sorrento, Positano — coastal orientation; winding roads, summer traffic.

Pompeje

Enter early, hat, 2 L water. Pair with Herculaneum if you prefer smaller crowds. Vesuvius is a separate hike — needs fitness.

Costiera

Positano and Amalfi shine from the water. Car: stress and ZTL — often easier by ferry / bus.

Where to eat — Naples

Margherita lub marinara — kolejka, szybki obrót.

Di Matteo

FRITTA

Pizza fritta i klasyczne pieczone.

Practical tips

Trains, table etiquette, language — plus sebbie.pl tools

This itinerary is part of the catalogue. Other routes and tools:

🍽️ Coperto & napiwki

Coperto is the cover charge for table/bread — legal and must be on the menu. Tips are not expected like in the US; rounding up or a small extra for great service is enough.

Cappuccino after 11:00 — locals do it less; it’s not “forbidden”, but espresso at the bar is quicker and cheaper.

🚆 Trains

Trenitalia / Italo — tickets are usually cheaper in advance; the station matters (e.g. Roma Termini vs Tiburtina). Validate paper regional tickets in the yellow machines!

🚗 ZTL & parking

Limited traffic zones in centres — camera fines without a permit. Rent a car on the Amalfi Coast only if you really want the stress.

💶 Cash & cards

Cards are common; small bars and some taxis prefer cash. ATMs — avoid Euronet at airports if you can.
